Briscoe wrote articles and contributed chapters to books on the subjects of of college presidential leadership and how colleges needed to adapt to a changing world. Some articles, such as those that appeared in AGB Reports (Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges) discussed the role of trustees. He also acted as a liaison for a biography on Paul McCorkle written by Andrew Offenburger, a Buena Vista University alumnus.
