Alumni and Development collection
The alumni publications were published under many different names and size formats. At least one copy of most issues has been "wrapped" in a piece of white paper. These issues were cut into individual pages for scanning.
Biographical and Subject (vertical files and clippings) collection
This collection is almost exclusively comprised of newspaper clippings about students who attended Buena Vista University, or faculty and staff who work (or worked) here, athletics teams and competitions, buildings and grounds, and all sorts of campus and community events that occurred at BVU.
Campus Directory collection
Campus directories listing administrative staff, faculty, and students.
Campus Newsletters and Announcements (Internal Communications) collection
This collection consists of publications that were used for internal communications before email existed. The Pulse and Don't Forget were intended for students. The Vista View and the Vista Vue were published for faculty, staff, and administration. BVU News and BVU News Update were published for faculty, students, and staff.
Campus Newspaper collection
The Campus Newspapers cover the years 1892-2012 and measure 30 linear feet. Generally, the newspapers capture the interests and activities of Buena Vista students and faculty through the years. The papers also explore topics and issues of the times in which they were published. A special paper edition was published May 27, 2017, commemorating President Fred Moore's years of service.
College and University photographs collection
This collection contains photographs depicting the history of Buena Vista College and Buena Vista University through the life of its students and faculty, through campus growth, through events, activities, and student organizations. The majority of photos contain little or no identification, especially where people are concerned. Researchers are encouraged to check the Unidentified files, as well as the Subject files for activities in which a former student may have been involved.
John Madsen framed objects collection
Two framed objects. One is a mock-up of a front page of The Tack, featuring information about John Madsen and focusing on his career at BV and his impending retirement in 1999. The other framed object is the Trustees' Circle Print by local artist, Dolores Cullen. Numbered prints were given to offices and faculty on campus.
