This collection contains programs from each year the lecture series was held, documents detailing the planning of the event, copies of the recordings, assorted emphera, correspondence, and clippings. A drawing by Pam McGinnis, copyright 1999 (6/50) showing the tenth anniversary (1989-1999) of speakers is included in an oversized box.

Historical Note

The Wlliam W. Siebens American Heritage Lectures Series was established in 1989 by the late Harold Waler Siebens to provide the midwest with access to prominent world figures. He endowned this series to son in the assurance that the program would continue after his death. Harold Walter Siebens was concerned with the future of constitutional freedoms and so he had hoped that these lectures would be become a definitive statement for freedom. The purpose of this series is for students to have a chance to discuss with recognized leaders from all disciplines about issues underlying american freedoms. This series was an annual tradition from the college until 2007 when it became every other year to now being every three years. Leaders such as Jimmy Carter in 1990, George Bush in 1999, Condoleezza Rice in 2013, and Walter Isaacson in 2023. This series was meant to be a reminder to everyone how precious freedoms like free speech, press, and enterprise are as well as inspire the respect for and loyalty to American Freedoms.
