Biographical and Subject (vertical files and clippings) collection
This collection is almost exclusively comprised of newspaper clippings about students who attended Buena Vista University, or faculty and staff who work (or worked) here, athletics teams and competitions, buildings and grounds, and all sorts of campus and community events that occurred at BVU.

Buena Vista Players scrapbooks
The B.V. Players Scrapbooks collection features two scrapbooks of the drama group, dating from 1925 – 1938, and 1937 – 1953, respectively. Both scrapbooks feature posters, programs, news, pictures, and reviews of productions from their timeframes. Scrapbook 1 also features club auditions, club member additions, Alpha Psi Omega inductees, and roll sheets.
Buena Vista University Women collection
Three boxes containing meeting notes, financial information, yearbooks, charity support, event planning materials, and the organizational constitution of the Faculty Dames organization.

Campus directories listing administrative staff, faculty, and students.
Campus Newsletters and Announcements (Internal Communications) collection
This collection consists of publications that were used for internal communications before email existed. The Pulse and Don't Forget were intended for students. The Vista View and the Vista Vue were published for faculty, staff, and administration. BVU News and BVU News Update were published for faculty, students, and staff.
Campus Newspaper collection
The Campus Newspapers cover the years 1892-2012 and measure 30 linear feet. Generally, the newspapers capture the interests and activities of Buena Vista students and faculty through the years. The papers also explore topics and issues of the times in which they were published. A special paper edition was published May 27, 2017, commemorating President Fred Moore's years of service.
The Tack magazine was published in spring 2025.
Carl Adkins papers
Assortment of items reflecting Carl Adkins' years teaching and coaching tennis at Buena Vista College and Buena Vista University. He was also faculty sponsor of Nu Delta chapter of Sigma Tau Delta and has records from that organization. Additionally, he also edited and published a group of lectures that were sponsored by this group. This collection also contains a book of his poetry.
